All you can do is try!

Fitness is something that while it’s so good for you, there’s a great deal of shame culture built up around it. Like, if you miss a day and feel like a total failure. But is that the mindset we should have?

When I started CrossFit I walked into that box for the first time and was a little intimidated. I wouldn’t have admitted it but I was; a little. Comparison is a thief of joy. But then I just tried and actually didn’t do too had. Truth is, all you can do is try.

Just start

We can go through a lot of “prep” before trying something but eventually you just have to start. If you’re wanting to get fit this year, improve your diet this year, or anything else all you can do is start and try hard! Don’t overthink it, just try. If all you do is prep work you never get to the hard work of actually doing what your ambition is. So, do just enough prep (like googling what a certain CrossFit movement is, or how to start a blog) and then go and try it.

Try This!

If you’re wanting to get fit and want to try something like a CrossFit WOD, I’ll put the one I did yesterday right here. I’ll put the weight I used beside each lift BUT you do what you’re comfortable with and what you can realistically do and still get a good workout. If you don’t know these movements then google them! All you can do is try!

Workout of the Day

For time:

18 calories on Assault Bike

5 front squats, 5 total rounds at 135 pounds

18 calories on Assault Bike

5 bench presses, 5 total rounds at 185 pounds

18 calories on Assault Bike

5 squat lunges (5 each side), 5 total rounds at 135 pounds

Some tips

Just pace yourself! Keep your time not to shame yourself but to improve for the next time. All you can do is try. Put your best foot forward! And don’t compare what you can do right now with others if you’re just starting out, it will kill your joy of just getting better. Keep applying this mentality to everything you do this year!

  1. This is great encouragement. I’m not doing cross fit but I have changed my diet for just over a month now. I’m making some improvement…… less cravings better sleep even some weight loss.
Just do it; just try is a great push for me.
